Isolation and wedding preparations, those are words we never thought we’ll ever put in a sentence. But unfortunately because of the pandemic currently happening, we don’t have a choice but to make sure we and our loved ones are safe. Thus quarantine. It’s hard enough to be a bride to be with all the stress of preparations, the stress of making sure the guests are all informed and ready, and even the butterflies in the stomach as the date of the occasion approaches give the brides extra pressure and stress. The anticipation can be grueling, but because of the quarantine, minds tend to be more stressed than ever. Because of the new normal, a lot of things have to change and sometimes, people are afraid of change. Primarily because of how hard it is to teach old dogs new tricks.
When I was younger I remember being obligated to sleep in the afternoon. And often, I would fool my mom by pretending to be asleep when she checks on me. Why am I telling you this story? Well childhood obligations that are imposed by older people can sometimes feel like this worldwide isolation. Even if we want to be somewhere, we can’t. Even if we wanted to do something, we are not allowed to. And this can be very worrying and can take a toll on anyone. More over a bride-to-be. So with that, we are going to talk about some of the ways that women can do to keep themselves sane in this desolating reality.
This is here for a fairly obvious reason. When we sleep, our body recharges and we get the well deserved rest we need. Sleep plays a very essential role in everyone’s physical and mental health. It’s like the housekeeping part of your body wherein we sleep to make sure we remove toxin build up in the brain. When someone has sleep deficiency, they tend to be more prone to sickness and may cause mental and emotional problems. As stress piles up for the bride, it is very important to have good snoozes every night so that when you wake up every morning, you have the energy and the presence of mind to take on the daily tasks. When you have a clear mind and a sound body, you can do everything that has to be done, may it be wedding preparations or just your everyday task.
Ok I know this is a bit harder to follow when you are under quarantine and you cannot leave your house because the city is under lockdown. But still there are numerous ways to make sure you get the proper exercise to keep yourself moving amidst this pandemic. Here are some tips:
- DvDs that can help you with exercises are available online and can be bought for a fairly low price. If you don't want to spend money, you can always watch FREE youtube videos and you can follow the step by step guide. There are options on how hard you want your routine to be. And you can choose whether you're in the beginners section or professional.
- Walking can also be done. A lot of cities still allow their citizens to roam around the neighborhood as long as they adhere to the quarantine rules such as wear a mask and social distancing. However, if you live in a place where you can’t really go out of your front gate, you can choose to do brisk walking around your house and your garden. Take in some fresh air as you do so. It can be very calming and can help you relieve some of the stress you have. Running can also be done, either in place or around your house. This can help you have better cardio and makes you less prone to premature tiredness and fatigue.
- Yoga. Now this one is popular. It is great for both the mind and the body.
- Have you ever heard of the phrase “Dance like nobody's watching?” That’s what you can do. Dance with the people you live with, be it your family or roommates. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional dancer or have two left feet. Dancing makes you move more than anything and moving is a great way to keep the body healthy, as well as the mind.
Stress can be very detrimental to both the physical and the emotional health. So It is very important for us to make sure our immune system is our best defense in these trying times. Coronavirus affects more than just the respiratory system, it also affects the immune system of the carrier and if left untreated, can lead to fatality. And this may sound a bit cliche, but prevention is always better than being obligated to go to the hospital bec of a compromised immune system. Try meditation. This can be very helpful and can create a major impact in your everyday life. Also make sure to eat nutritious foods and avoid foods that are not necessary, like fast foods and even alcoholic beverages.
It can be very hard staying sane and happy when you know your life is being hardened by changes that we cannot really control. Especially when you know you have a wedding to think of and a groom to also take care of. Making sure you follow the guidelines of quarantine and such can add to the stress you may already have. To combat these, you have to always keep in mind this too shall pass. The preparations for the wedding will be done and about. But the life you will have with your husband is something that will surpass all these. Hanging in there can be annoying to hear time and time again but hanging means believing. Believing that amidst the pandemic, one thing will still remain the greatest gift of this world. And that is love.
